Souvenir Program Roster

Any driver that would like to be a part of our annual Souvenir Program. Please PM or email (bemcevoy@yahoo.com) the following information:

Car Number | Name | Hometown/State | Engine/Chassis | Car Owner

If you competed at the Montpelier Motor Speedway during the 2013 season or purchased a license, you do NOT need to send this information unless their have been changes since last season. Drivers from last season will automatically be included based on their 2013 information.

Competitor’s License

Our 2014 Competitors License Form is now available on our website. You can pre-enter through mail through March 29. By pre-entering, we will mail your license and form back before the first race. This will allow you to skip this step at the first race and speed up your payout. The license contributes 100% to your points fund. Last season, we doubled our points fund amount along with the number of positions it paid from the 2012 season. We hope to able to expand this again this season.

The form and mailing information can be found on our website at: www.MontpelierMotorSpeedway.com

Transponders

The Montpelier Motor Speedway will utilize a Westhold Timing System for the 2014 season for the Midget division. The system will provide 100% accurate scoring results along with providing information by lap including lap position, lap time, and lap speed. We are currently working with the software vendor on the possibility of providing live timing and scoring via the web along with providing that information for race feedback on our website. You can purchase a transponder for $240 (Credit Card/Cash) which includes the transponder, mounting pouch, and charging unit from the Montpelier Motor Speedway. We will also have a rent to own program and have nightly rentals available for $10 per race. For car owners/drivers, that currently have a Westhold or compatible unit can use those units at no cost. The transponders will also allow us to utilize qualifying at some events in either individual or group format.

More info and purchase info can be found on our website at: www.MontpelierMotorSpeedway.com

Qualifying

We currently plan to utilize qualifying for a select number of races. We are currently considering to qualify at 50% of the scheduled event (The other 50% of races will determine starting position by tab/pill draw). We plan to utilize the transponders to offer experience with group qualifying sessions along with sessions of individual qualifying.

Race Length

There is a change in race length for the 2014 season based on car count:

20 Midgets or Less – 20 Laps
21+ Midgets – 25 Laps

The qualifying change and race length change were a result of overwhelming feedback from our car/owner driver survey. Many felt the biggest cost was travel and not related to race length. Many expressed a need for more seat time based on travel cost along with needed experience with qualifying. The changes are based on that feedback.

Need Feedback

The Montpelier Motor Speedway is seeking feedback on the following:

Transponder Mounting Locations

We currently need feedback and Midget Car Owners would like to have the transponder mounted. The transponder must have a direct view to the ground and cannot penetrate metal or carbon fiber. The current position being considered is near the right rear torsion tube. Is this most common position between Midget groups?

Qualifying Format

We are currently seeking feedback of when it is a qualifying event is it preferred to host more group or individual qualifying? Also, we are seeking feedback on different Invert /Race Program Formats.

Please feel free to PM or email me with any feedback on these topics.

Seeking Sponsorship For Specialty Awards

We have continued to seek sponsorship for the Midget program. We would like to able award cash or product awards for such things as “Hard Charger”, “Highest Finishing Mini/Focus”, “Hard Luck” or “Qualifying Award” or with whatever award you see fit. 100% of your sponsorship would go directly into the hands of competitors. Product/Service sponsorships are welcome also. Please contact me, if you would like to be a sponsor that awards that competitors directly at bemcevoy@yahool.com.

I know many cars have the transponder mounted on the down tube near where it connects to main frame rails on the right rear.
