The first race of the year for Mid America Lightning Sprints presented by Jayhawk Millwright is April 26th at L.A. Raceway in Lamonte MO. Purse for this year race is same as last years race. Guaranteed $650 to win and $70 to start. We will also be awarding tow money again. Stipulation for the tow money is you must be either 500 or 250 miles one way from L.A. raceway. For the 500 mile people we will pay $100 for the 250 mile people we will pay $50 tow money. This is limited to the first 5 racers who tell Mark or Phil they are coming. You have to make the Feature to be awarded the tow money.

Mark

Looks like you guys have come up with a real good race to start the season with. I like the idea of the co sanctioned races with the MMSA, and think offering tow money to help racers absorb some of the cost to getting to the race should be considered by other groups also. In the past you have been one of them rare breed that would traveled 400+ miles to a race. This tow money may help encourage more people like you to hit the road also.

I think most of us a little further east from you guys keep out travels to a race to around 100 to 150 miles. You guys probably have to travel further to race and I can see where this money might even help some of your members make it to a race.

I went to Google and checked mileage for us to get to LaMonte Mo.

Me Louisville Ky----------------460 miles
Indy racers---------------------436 miles
Cincinnati Oh.racers-----------544 miles
Columbus Oh. Racers----------612 miles
Kansas city Mo.-----------------75 miles
Peoria Il.-------------------------360 miles

I also checked mileage to Du Quoin Il. for the racers

Me Louisville Ky----------------218 miles
Indy Racers---------------------244 miles
Cincinnati Oh.------------------318 miles
Columbus Oh.------------------416 miles
La Monte Mo.-------------------287 miles
Kansas City Mo.----------------330 miles
Peoria Il.------------------------213 miles

Point being Du Quoin is a more central location to all of us. We have a month to work on it, why don't we try to make this a national class race. Heck we could also hope that some of the western racers and eastern guys could make it also.

Last Season Mid-America Lightning Sprints Presented by Jayhawk Millwright paid out $14,815 in five races. This made our series the best paying Lightning Sprint series in the nation. For 2014 we will be on track to payout over $28,000 if we have an average of 16 cars per race. We will not have any points champ or ask people to chase points. We felt from the onset of creating our series we wanted to do something different and not tie guys down to a point’s battle. Just show up, race, have a good time hopefully take home a fist full of cash and come back next time. This gives guys the opportunity to support special shows like ours and chase points at home if they like.

Going in to this season our thoughts and goals have not changed. We have double the amount of races, reached out to all the surrounding lightning sprint organizations that attended the national rules meeting about co sanction events. Rocky Mountain Lighting Sprints Association, Midwest Mini Sprint Association, Wisconsin Mini Sprints Association, Midwest Lightning Sprints and Illinois Lightning Sprint Series. We where successful in reaching agreements with RMLSA, MMSA , MLS and would have with WIMS but just could not come up with a track that was in reach for both of us. All though all racers do not have the funding to travel every weekend I would encourage all to travel out of their comfort zone once or twice a year.

Last season we were honored to have racers from NY, CO, WI, IL, IO, KS, IN and of course MO race our events. This season as the flier says we are starting out in La Monte MO. This track is a fast wide open 3/8 mile track. We are the support class for an all winged sprint car show. The original winged outlaw warriors 360, 305 sprints and MALS. We will be at this track twice this season. April 26th and Aug. 30th.

Our next race is at Double-X speedway in California MO. This race is a celebration of life of local hero Jesse Hockett. All I can say is WOW what a show. The place is standing room only. This track is a great fit for our cars. It is a ¼ mile open wheel supported track. And again we will be supporting a 360 winged sprint car series. This time it is ASCS 360.

On June 21st we are at Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg MO. This is another local ¼ mile track that is a rarity this day and age. After being close for 3 years it has reopened with a full schedule and we are excited to be on the bill twice. Our second date is on Aug. 2nd.

The next event is in Nevada MO at Nevada Speedway. This track is in South West Missouri about 1.5 hr south of K.C. It produced some of the most exciting races for us every year. We are also pleased to be on their bill twice this season. Our first race on June 28th. We will have an autograph session with all the fans. Last year this was a huge success. The second date is Aug. the 9th and look for us to do something special then also.

On July 4th and 5th we are very excited to be working with RMLSA. This double header weekend, lightning sprints will be supporting The World of Outlaw sprint cars on both nights. We are expecting a very large car count and fan base.

July 18th we are at a new track for Lightning Sprints and our first Co-Sanctioned event with MMSA at Clay County Speedway in Flora IL. This race will pit the best racers in the Midwest against each other at a track no one has raced lightning sprints on PLUS it is also guaranteed $650 to win and $70 to start. It should be very exciting.

On Sept 20th we will be at Montgomery Motorsports Park in New Florence MO. This race will be our second co sanctioned event with MMSA and will be our best paying race of the year which it will be guaranteed $1000 to win and $100 to start!!

Our season ends in Indiana and is our third Co-sanctioned event with MMSA at the famed Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt IN on Oct. 11th. There may still be a few more dates to be added. As we continued to pick up momentum we will look for opportunities to bring our Winged Lightning Sprint show to local tracks though out the middle part of America. Again I would encourage all racers to come race at new venues with new racers and great payout. The opportunity for lightning sprints has never been better.

Sorry for the Book!!

Dom that was a great picture u posted on FB and worked out great for our poster. Come on over and bring some guys. Would like to see how our guys stack up to the Aussies.

BTW if u guys don't know Dom he is a great spokesman for our sport down under. Do a search for videos from videosruss on YouTube. He works hard to bring people races and in pit interviews with the drivers.
