The Battle at the Center in Du Quoin IL for this week end is still a go. The schedule of events has been trimmed to just Fri Night practice from 6 to 9pm. All racing will now be on Sat with heats starting at 9am with B-Mains after the heats and the A-Mains will start at 7pm on Sat Night. Steve Nace Promoter of the event said he has 100 cars pre entered with hopes of getting 25 to 30 more on Fri. This would enable him to get all races in on Sat and eliminate another day of expenses for the facility. The purse for all classes HAVE NOT BEEN CUT and the Lightning Sprint Al Archdale Jr. / Willard Bess Memorial will still pay $2000 to win. The pit stalls inside have been sold out but another 30 indoor spots have been added to a 1st come 1st serve basis on registration starting at 9am on Fri Morn. For more info you may call 1-{270}442--7532 ..

As stated above we will have Indoor pits in the arena for another 30 cars. Worked on the track all day yesterday, should make for really good Indoor racing. Please tell someone about this event.

I am doing all I can to promote this race on IOW. We have a very large portion of the mid west "Mini-Lightning Sprint" racers that take part on this board. So far we have gotten a whole lot of readers but very few respondents. Perhaps they figure to keep it on the "QT" and then show up to take all that money home with them? I hope that is the case.

The weather sounds good. Forty Five degrees would be considered a hot flash around here. Rain doesn't affect indoor racing much. You have a super little race track that would be competitive to everybody.>>>>>>>AND>>>>>>AND>>>>>>

Winning this one race would be like winning for a month or two straight at one of our regular shows.

St. Louis is about hour and half away. Carbondale Illinois would be the closest as far as I know.
