No, this was no accident. It was planned and I thought about it for two months before I took the plunge, as it were. It had happened once before, but she is now 10 years old. She’s just costing me too much money.
Naturally, the first person I discussed it with was Sara, my traveling companion and body guard. I really wanted her involved, but I was willing to go ahead and find other ways. I figured at some point I was going to need help in keeping it clean and Sara has always been good at that. And I figured if I didn’t tell her and just went ahead and did it, she’d probably be mad. Next, I talked to Chad, one of my partners in the race team. His reaction was, “Are you nuts! At your age! That’s quite a commitment! “ Jim, my other race team partner, said, “Go for it. You only live once. It only cost more the longer you wait.” So, with much apprehension and hand wringing, it finally happened. I bought a new truck! Before anyone thinks I won the lottery or something, my old 2003 Dodge has over 500,000 miles on it. It doubles as my daily driver. Plus I got an incredible deal! It’s already made its first road trip as I am writing this from a hotel room in Tulsa. Everybody be safe in their travels. Feel free to stop by our booth at the swap meet in Indy and say Hi!
