Darland and Faas Winter Challenge Bound!

Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (January 13, 2014) – The Peoples Champ, Dave Darland, will join the California Kid, Nic Faas both steering towards Winter Challenge 2014 at Peoria, Arizona’s Canyon Speedway. The Winter Challenge will mark the first traditional sprint car event of the year with six complete nights of racing in just nine days as the best of the best kick off 2014.

Darland, who ended his season winning the prestigious Turkey Night Grand Prix aboard the Jimmy May prepared Josh Ford Motorsports machine, will pair up with a stout Casey Minks team that includes Ryan Bernal at the wheel of the second Minks machine.

After overcoming some adversity in his 2013 CRA campaign that left him sidelined for a race, Nic Faas was able to still pick up a podium finish in the Championship standings. Faas will climb aboard a potent Jimmy May/Josh Ford Motorsports sprint car in his Winter Challenge debut as he, along with many others from all over the country, will take on the depth of the Southwest led by Champion RJ Johnson.

Johnson, who secured his first championship in 2013 with a double digit in the win column, was one of the only drivers able to stop the dominate Bryan Clauson.

The 2014 Winter Challenge will feature top traditional Sprint Car drivers from around the country as the USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series faces off with the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series while IMCA Modified aces converge in the valley of the sun for what is anticipated to be one of the largest racing events of 2014. More than $100,000 in "A" Feature money alone will be distributed over the course of the blockbuster event that kicks off with the $2,000 to win Winter Challenge opener and will conclude with the $5,000 to win finale on February 1st.

Nearly 100 drivers from across America will be expected to take part in what will be one of the must see events of 2014 and will feature the Nations top teams all gunning for one of the richest payouts in the west.
