I have enjoyed watching him for so many years.
He can still run a Midget-Sprint Car or Champ
Dirt Car at a high level. He's a hero of mine
for sure!!!

Dave is the real deal, not many left like him. A guy that pays his bills, raised a family and puts meat and potatoes on the table with his talent behind the wheel.

Sit'n in the pit stands at Gas City this summer & I somehow struck up a conversation w/ fellow next to me. We were talking about the young guns comin up making a name for themselves. Driving hard & fast w/ no fear, plenty of determination, the desire to win, not being satisfied w/ 2nd or less. Then the old gent said, "Theirs one old (so & so) left still like that & there he goes". Turned & it was Dave Darland, I just laughed told him Dave's not that old, "He is by these younger fella's here, but he still gasses'er as hard as the rest". So Dave if you read this keep on gas'n it my friend, see ya when the dirt flies

I always thought Darland was good, but I really became a fan when he got fired from a top midget ride (Lewis?) a few years ago for being "too old". I thought if he's too old, I'm in real trouble, because I'm a lot older than he is, and I'm still working at my job. So I've cheered for him ever since, rooting for him to make that car owner sorry he ever did it.
