SOUTHWEST SPRINTS AT CENTRAL ARIZONA RACEWAY

USAC Southwest point leaders R.J. Johnson and Charles Davis Jr. lead the series to this Saturday’s race at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, the fourth series outing at the 3/8-mile dirt oval this year.

Johnson, who enjoys a 51-point lead over Davis entering Saturday’s event, has a win and a second in the three Casa Grande races this season. Davis has also recorded a win and a second, while Josh Pelkey, sixth in the latest point tally, has the other victory.

Five points races remain on the 2013 Southwest calendar, so the title remains up for grabs. Johnson’s nine Southwest wins this year have included eight offering points, while five of Davis’ six wins have also produced points.
