I will be doing updates again tonight from night 2 of the 5th Annual Gold Crown Midget Nationals at Tri-City Speedway. I will do updates for both the USAC/POWRi Midgets and the MOWA 410 winged sprints. http://twitter.com/pdavis18491988 is my link. USAC, POWRi, MOWA, & STLracing will also have updates. MOWA also has a pick 'em game you can play as well at http://mowalive.com. Hope to see some of you there tonight!!
Midget Feature top 10: Clauson Abreu Hines Daum Bell Hagen S Cottle Kuhn C Armstrong A Bright Darland. Daum clinches POWRi points title with his finish.
- for me, Granite is becoming the St. Louis area "class track." the staff was very helpful, friendly
- love how they kept the show moving. of course it helps when the first seven heat races of the evening go greet, white, checker with no yellows. the entire program was over by 11
- good concession prices
- good racing surface.
- and what a program, 42 midgets and 31 MOWA winged sprints? Crazy good
other tracks could learn a lot from what Kevin and Tammy Gundaker are building at Tri City
Another good night of racing last night. Clauson checked out and no one had anything for him,but behind him there was plenty of dicing amongst the top 5 6 cars, and other battles thruout the field as well.
Pretty good crowd last night too. I dont watch winged sprints very often, but glad to catch up with Lynton Jeffrey last night after the races. I havent had the chance to chat with him in a few years.I met him in Australia in 1995.
Always like coming over here and stopping in for a bite at Fast Eddies in Alton, which we did yesterday with Funk and the Mrs after stopping in to visit Mortys wife Debbie at her Bakery in the morning. Cheap eats with plenty of atmosphere there, and we ran into Aero and some of the Pa. guys that came out for the Gold Crown rather than the National Open at Williams Grove in their back yard. Today we're going to "Dons No Mans Land" tavern, one of Morty's favorite stops for their first weekend of every month Tacos. I see Hoover went there yesterday, and brought back 29 or so Tacos for the campers at the track.
Mortys wife Debbie, and also son "Dirty Driving" Drew came to watch the races and socialize last night. Surely an emotional time for them both,as it was their first races since our buddy Morty passed away, and the first time to catch up with racing friends in quite awhile. Glad to see both of them there and spend time chatting as well.
Stephanie Meents ordered some more Charleen Meents Memorial shirts and has them on sale. I had mine on last night, and when I stopped to chat with Jim Thurman,he decided he liked the looks of them, and we were able to catch up with Stephanie and get one for him.
Hoping the rain stays away for tonights races! Its been a fun weekend so far.....
