Indy Car driver and former Indianapolis 500 winner was asked this morning.
RT@Paddock Insider @PaddockInsider Q7 from @TonyDizinno: @scottdixon9 What's a form of Motorsport that you haven't tried, but want to? #AskInsider His answer: RT@Scott Dixon @scottdixon9 @PaddockInsider @TonyDizinno I’d like to have a proper go in a sprint car competitively. Those cars are incredibly powerful. #AskInsider ![]() |

If I'm not mistaken, he drove one once at in California at one of the Sprint Car driving schools. (Shuman's or somebody's)

It's been a good PR week for sprint car racing, really. On the NASCAR broadcast from Eldora, you heard those guys talk about sprint car racing and sprint car drivers more than any other racing genre. Now, you've got an Indy 500 winner saying our type of racing is on his Wish List.

I recall reading or hearing that Dixon's parents ran a small 1/4 mile dirt track for a period in his home country (New Zealand).

It seems to me that the announcer at Kokomo said Scott was there in the pit earlier this year.
I for one would love to see some of the guys from Indy Car and even Formula One get up on the wheel of sprint car at Kokomo.

Heres a thought that popped into my head earlier today....we have seen in the past how Indycar has tried to adopt and capitalize on the popularity of NAPCAR and work some of NAPCARs ideas into their series...Double file restarts, races on ISC cookie cutter ovals, Kurt Bush and others testing Indycars with lots of PR, etc etc etc....
Oh how I wish Indycar would try to jump all over the buzz and hype created by Wednesdays truck race at Eldora and the interest some of their drivers have shown in dirt cars.. (TK at the Prelude, Dixon wanting in a sprinter, Scheckter running the Keading winged car, Carpenter coming out of midgets, etc) and work a deal to add a silver crown race or 2 into the Indycar schedule. Wouldn't it be awesome if Wednesday night ended up being the gateway drug to get dirt back in the national championship schedule of Indycar after it being removed 40ish years ago. |
