I saw several "new" generation races, they were pretty competitive, and I have to admit...today's race wasn't that exciting. I love the old cars though. I think they should combine the old and new cars. Not only would there be full fields again, but since sc96 owns 2 new gens and 1 old gen, he could dominate the series! :thumb

While the new gen cars were putting on some competitive events they did need to be reevaluated/redesigned. They were simply butt ugly. Chet Fillip stunk up todays race but that was an exception. Most old style events were good at Richmond and most other places they ran. I think that the most important thing USAC needs to do when/if the new gen cars return is to run them in a series of their own and not force the car owners to have three cars to run for the title.

I completely agree,Silvercrown on dirt and pavement on anything under a mile and gold crown{new gen} on 1 mile and bigger,The exception would be the dirt cars would still run the mile dirt.Silvercrown pavement, and dirt would be on their own points and goldcrown pavement only with their points,And yes they need a new look.

The Traditional Silver Crown cars should run anything 1 mile and smaller be it dirt or pavement. Their schedule would be Terre Haute, Springfield, Indiana State Fairgrounds, Eldora, Syracuse, Phoenix, Richmond, Milwaukee, DuQuoin, Knoxville, IRP, Iowa, and Sacramento with two races at each of the dirt mile tracks.

The New Gen cars should be 1.25 miles and bigger with some exceptions. and bigger tracks.

I like the fact that my first mentioned renewal of the Gold Crown series as the series for the New Gen cars is being bantered about. Their races could be Chicagoland, Kentucky, Nashville, Kansas, Gateway, Phoenix with there being two races at each track.

Make the Phoenix date for the Silver Crown, Gold Crown, midget, and sprint divisions with the Indycars on the same weekend and get the Copper World back to a February date and kick off all the OW series in America at one time.

From what I have heard the reason for not running the traditional cars on the mile pavement is that with the large amount of fuel being carried on the very rear of the car creates the potential for a fire that could be sprayed into the crowd and create a massive law suit.Speeds on dirt mile tracks are slower and do not run as high a risk for a highspeed rear impact.

Any info or informed speculation on what the redesign to the "Gold Crown" car will consist of? Primarily exterior mods to make it look "racier" ?

How stable was the new car on the superspeedways? Are they looking for further improvements there, as well?

How did lap times of the 05-06 new gen car compare to times of the traditional cars at tracks where they've both run like Richmond, ORP, Milwaukee etc. ?

I really enjoyed Richmond. It was well worth the 2 hr drive. Not as much fun as Springfield or DuQuoin, but then nothing is (imho).

Congrats to Chet Filip. Glad to see him get the win.

Also, good to see AJ Fike have a strong finish.

Personally, if USAC is going to continue to be a part of this show, I'd like to see the IRL move it to October. Let the sprints and SC run on Saturday night right after IRL qualifying and then run the IRL on Sunday afternoon.

That way, USAC could get in and out in one night (cost savings to teams) and it would be a lot cooler and enjoyable. This race in the afternoon is brutal.

(and yes, I know, IRL won't want to go up against the NASCAR Chase races; but I can wish)

...after the trouble they had keeping their cars on the track, will the IndyCars come back to RIR again? How much carnage can they afford with a 60K gate?
