Read on STLRacing message board that Cliff Cockrum passed away today. I saw him win a lot of sprint races at Haubstadt many years ago.

I remember him being particularly tough in the hundred lappers. I was lucky enough to see him win quite a few races @ Haubstadt. And I'm sure he'll always be remembered as on of the top drivers, on the list of those who made that track what it is today. R.I.P.

I met Cliff a few years ago at DuQuoin. I mentioned to him that anyone brave enough to sit in one of Dizz Wilson's S*** boxes had my respect. He chuckled and said, "yea, they were were kind of ratty but they never lacked for horsepower!" Spoken like a real racer. RIP Cliff.

Sorry to hear of his passing. Several of us had wondered if Cliff was still with us. He was mentioned by the Helfrich family last year at the 50th anniversary night, but no mention was made of his status. He dominated the 100 lap races for years.
He suffered a serious injury at Paragon, shattered pelvis socket, I believe, in an accident many years ago, which if memory serves me correctly, was due to a part failure on the car.
