Might have hailed at your house Joe, not at the track. At least not in the shower that doomed the evening

Hey Joe, where were you at? I was at the track and it only rained for maybe 2 minutes! Where was this hail you speak of?? Two weeks in a row.. I totally understand last week but this week was a different story. The parking lot was dry, under the stands was dry. Break out the damn grader and scrape the track so the couple hundred fans and everyone in the pits weren't wasting their time and money. Gas is not cheap for the racers nor the fans and the staff at Kokomo should seriously consider this before deciding they really don't want to work hard to bring the track back into raceable condition. BTW.... right after they called it, there was a pickup truck driving around the track:doh:

I live just on the south side of the grainery by Nothwest park. And yes we had pea size hail. I didn't think it rained hard enough to be a wash out. But I know they have watered the track pretty heavy lately. So I thought maybe that was probably the reason it was canceled. BTW I could walk to the track quicker than most can drive there, even if they live in Kokomo.

We are just south of the Kid and had rain hail and enough wind to have limbs down. As far as the rain out it was not long ago people were ******** about how dry everything was, someone said you prepare the track to race and if it rains at least you tried. Would you like to go back to not watering just in case the weatherman is right or would you like a fast race track with water deep into the race track? Most of the people in the pits that pay the bills knew the staff at Kokomo tried to give everyone a decent race track and with that the weather put the night in jeopardy. The staff had a mechanical break down that put things way behind (Blade) so instead of pissing around they let us head home. Do you really think the O'Conners wanted to drive all the way here and start cooking food, work there asses off and then call it because of "Two Minuets OF RAIN" Real Deal it is my opinion that one you have your head in your A$# or you just do not understand what a promoter goes thru to give the fans and the drivers a decent race track. We were the second to last one to leave and there was no way in hell a pick up went all the way around the race track without cutting groves or sinking. Every crew and every fan lost tonight but do you think it compared to what the O'Conners lost this week. Bye the way I know for a fact the crew worked all night thru the weekend on the race track, so to say they did not want to race is a bunch of bull.

So much for being nice.

Just my opinion.

We were watching the radar and it looked like Kokomo was going to get missed. We got to the track at 7pm to find out they had a recent downpour. It was a bummer it didn't happen but after we got home, I was thankful I wasn't sitting in the stands waiting for track prep and racing - they called it at like 7:45pm. It would have been probably an hour before any cars would have been able to hit the track.

I felt this was the best decision they could have made & for the interest of the fans. I'd be more upset if it was midnight & we had to head home with (or without) seeing a feature because of work obligations. Even though we spent some in gas to drive there, we had some time to visit with friends for awhile, enjoyed some ice cream and got off the couch for a nice country Sunday evening drive.

The night before looked like it wasn't going to happen but did (at Paragon). It's the chance we all take and the tracks/promoters try to do what is right or reasonable. You can't make everyone happy all the time.

Whoa, I would have to say I am shocked at your post. I never viewed you as someone who would talk like this on a message board. I understand your point but I am shocked none the less and I feel your point could have been made without all the curse words.

This is an example of an uneducated fan talking about things he knows nothing about. That track was absolutely unraceable last night. With hours and hours of work they will be able to prepare it for next weeks race. But only after more hours of preparation than we had to work with last night. Running the O'Connors down like you do simply for realizing the losing battle they were up against is just plain sad. In fact, the family left it up to the racers to decide what to do in the impromptu meeting they had, and the drivers, against the advice of the promoters wanted to try to get it in. When they took that last piece of equipment out on the track trying to work it in, they realized that they were simply not going to be able to get it to work, and called the event. There was no way we would have been able to race on the track last night, and if we had, it would have been a long, drawn out affair that surely would have tore some race cars up. It would have been more like rodeo than car racing.

In the end, anyone who knows anything about this sport understands that the O'Connor family did everything they could to try to get a raceable surface, but it was not meant to be. With all the rainouts we have had, you'd think that people would realize that EVERYONE wants to race, including the promoters, but sometimes it's just not meant to be. Such was the case last night.

I know you are disappointed, as are we all. I hustled back from Knoxville, Iowa to see the track get rained on. But, pointing the finger at the O'Connor family is just pointless, irrational nonsense. Stuff happens. Deal with it...

Well said Dean, no one can control the weather. Even though I wanted to see some great racing I was glad we weren't there until 1:00 or 2:00 am.
