The American Mini Sprint Association’s first visit to the newly re-configured Lawrenceburg Speedway this Saturday June 21st will be in honor of two supporters of the class that have passed in the last two years. Carol Tague, the late wife of A.M.S.A. owner Jerry Tague, worked beside her husband running sign-in and pay-outs for many years. Bob Nichols was a fixture in TQ midgets and mini sprint racing as a driver and car builder. A barbeque dinner following the races will be presented in their honor.
“We are heading into one of the strongest parts of our schedule with the remainder of June and July featuring races at Lawrenceburg, Twin Cities and Gas City--three of the area’s premier dirt facilities. During the month of July we will appear at Lawrenceburg and Gas City with USAC. A great opportunity to gain exposure for the mini sprints and our young drivers with an eye on the future”, commented A.M.S.A. owner Jerry Tague. The A.M.S.A. recently announced a new section on their website dedicated to its drivers. Each week a few drivers will be highlighted on the site with a short biography and photograph. The first two drivers highlighted represent the A.M.S.A.’s driver roster well. Fourteen year old Nathan Mensendiek in his second season of mini sprint competition has his eyes set on a future in professional motorsport. He is off to a good start with one win so far this season. Likewise thirty-seven year old John Race is a weekend warrior with a simple goal of having fun and enjoying something that he has always wanted to do. Tague went on to comment, “I hope that we can continue to strengthen our program’s appeal to both classes of drivers. We have several new drivers from both ends of the spectrum that either have or will be joining us this season. We’ll continue to work on our schedule, enforcement of rules and opportunities for our drivers to gain exposure. We appreciate the assistance and support that each and every promoter, driver, crew, family member and fan has provided to ensure the future of our group.” To view the driver profiles, visit www.americanminisprints.com. The American Mini Sprint Association is the nation’s oldest, premier mini sprint association with a history that dates back to 1989. The A.M.S.A. has assisted in the development of some of today’s top racing talent including names like Shane Cottle, Kraig Kinser and Jimmy Kite.
