Before this goes spiraling out of control on this board...
I have known both of these guys since we were all teenagers running around Northern California racetracks (I being the oldest of the three). I have watched them both mature into top notch race car drivers who are very competitive, and give no quarter in a race car. The incident coming to the checkered flag was a racing deal. They were both going for the win. There was no harm or foul in what took place coming to the line. Afterwards, is a completely different story. Tim is someone I do consider a friend. We aren't best buds or anything, but we have spent a fair bit of time in social settings together outside of racing. But, I think even he'd agree that what he did was wrong. It was dangerous and not conducive to the spirit of fair play. Fortunately, this incident was minor. Even Andy Forsberg downplayed it, not only when he and I spoke privately, but also when we spoke to him on last night's Jackslash show. Andy obviously did not approve of Tim's actions, but he handled it like a mature adult, and wasn't "up in arms" about it. You folks will be happy to know that when both men got out of their respective cars, there was no fisticuffs, just some finger pointing and yelling. Nobody took a swing at anybody, they just disagreed vehemently. I wish it would have never happened, and that it would have just been a situation where two guys were going hard for the win, and one finished first and one finished second. Because ultimately, all that really happened is that we had two torn up race cars. Fortunately, nobody was injured. Thank heavens... DM |

A race car should never be used as a weapon of retribution for a racing deal. The truly unfortunate thing is that with the video being posted all over the racing forums now, you know there are some young, impressionable racers in quarter midgets, karts and Micros who will see that and think that it is OK to act that way when they have a similar racing deal go down.

Gregg,
You are absolutely correct. Please do not misunderstand...I am by no means condoning that behavior. In fact, it is my estimation that ******** charges could be filed if the other party was desirous of that. Fortunately, that is not the case. I am just glad that two people I have known for a very long time were not injured in this incident. When speaking with Andy yesterday, he made remarks about the hype it generated being good for the sport. I am not so sure. I, like you, think it's a bad example for impressionable young kids to see this kind of thing, and would prefer that nothing like this ever occurs again. We can only hope... DM |

For kids watching this, it should be noted that JP should do something to TK! Like no more racing there in Chico for the year! That is even the Gold Cup! Lets see how this is handled! JP owns all of Northern California Sprint Dirt Racing anyway! Civil War, Golden State! Friday nights @ Chico!
It's like men with hockey sticks! They get set down!:angry-smiley-007: Joe |

Years ago in NASCAR Jack Ingram went after Sam Ard head on afterwards. NASCAR sat him down.
Those race cars didn't do anything and teams own and have to fix them. Just pull up to victory lane in front of the crowd and settle it ! Sell more tickets that way ! :applaud: |

I've become a big fan of TK after he started racing here in the midwest and he's always been a good guy to talk to but I too am really dissed at what he did. I think a little fan backlash will be good. TK will bounce back though and redeem himself.

Fisticuffs would have been a much better option than that... :icon_smile_blackeye
I always think that getting a black eye after the race is alot safer than getting seriously hurt using a racecar as a weapon.
