The wife and I travelled to about 85% of the races that year. We drove over 36,000 miles that year. Man, I miss those days!
I was always impressed how the Seibert cars could get hooked up. I remember a Knoxville Nationals where Eddie Leavitt was driving a yellow Seibert #9. He was crashed into on the qualifying night and had to run the C on the Nationals night. Back then they just had a C,B and A. He won the C and had come way up through the B, leading Swindell when someone again got into him. I always thought he could have worked his way up through the A main in that car, which would have been a huge feat. I think Swindell did work his way up to 5-6th or something like that.
That Seibert car was really hooked up and Leavitt was one of the best at Knoxville in the non-wing days. I don't remember Seiberts running often in races other than USAC but I could be mistaken.
