As it pains me to read about another senseless death of a loved one taken all to soon, it reminds me how important term life insurance is (and no i do not sell insurance). For less than $50 per month a 42 year old, male, non smoker in decent shape can get 500k in protection for his family. We are all subject to go at any time men so please make certain your families are taken care of. Dave Ramsey reccommends 10 times you annual income to ensure your family will be ok. If you love them go do this now. There is no reason you shouldn't do so. We can't go out and eat one time for less than $50...
