Perhaps some of you oldtimers remember the sprint car driven by Rollie Beale that was sponsored by the Rodeo Bar. I was watching one of the Lucas oil motorsports shows on vs and Kenny Sargent was conducting an interview with Forrest Lucas in the bar at the Lucas Speedway in Missouri. He asked Forrest if he had any experience as a bar owner and he replied that in a former life he had owned a bar called the Rodeo Bar. I'm wondering if it is the same bar that sponsored Rollie Beale?

Here I go with my lousy memory, but I think this Rodeo Bar was in Toledo. I remember the car well and Rollie made that car sing. I am also remembering that Ron Killman owned the car (#32?), but again, I may be wrong.

I think that Rodeo Bar must be a common name. If you Google it, you get several links.

About a year ago I remember seeing something about the Rodeo Bar in Toledo in the news. I can't remember what it was for but it runs in my mind it wasn't very good news. Does anyone remember.

Yes, Rollie did run the car in USAC but I'm also thinking it was not the Alfater car with the ugly roll bar but maybe a Ron Ward chassis or a copy. It was #32 I think. It was white/red/blue. Then again I may be in left field. :kookoo

Don,

The interview was on Motorsport Hour during a broadcast of a late model race. I set my DVR to record the series; sometimes I get some worthwhile races, such as USAC sprint and midget; sometimes some offbeat stuff. There is a broadcast tomorrow at 4:00PM(CDT) and another the same time on Saturday. I believe the first airing of a program is the one on Saturday and the others are repeats.

Thanks. I remember Ron Kilman's name now that you mention it. Probably Forrest Lucas is not old enough to have been in the bar business some thirty or forty years ago.

The reason that the Rodeo bar was in the news recently has to to with the fact that one of thier customers got drunk out of his mind around Chritmas and killed several people in a wrong way crash on one of the interstates in Toledo.

While investigating the accident and whether to charge the bar with serving an already intoxicated person, the police also found drug activity.

As memory serves me, it was stated that the ownership of the bar had only been in place for a short period of time.
