Shores chassis question...

I have an old Shores chassis and hopefully, someone who worked for Lloyd may see this post. I would like to know if anyone can tell me approx. what year this frame was built? It uses the aluminum blocks on the frame rail to mount the steering box if thats any help. The front of the roll cage is welded on to the top frame rail instead of the bar above the rear motor plate. It uses the shorter rear radius rods instead of the long ones that attached to the motorplate area.I'm also wondering why the bar that the bottom of the seat mounts to is lower on the left side? I haven't been able to locate the driver chuck mohr but wonder if anyone may know him or any history on this car? I know it raced in michigan. I'll try to post a few frame pics. thanks, ron c

My first sprint car was an 81 Shores.... I am no expert on the years of his cars at all but I feel pretty confident in saying yours is from the mid seventies,.. One thing I hated about his chasis was it was so hard to get the rear end in and out of the chassis,... so we made a removable section on each lower frame rail we could take out and remove or install the rear end then bolt the section back in place,...I loved the look of the car, but was glad to go to a J&J

Thank you for the replies. It came with an old taper axle rear but no way of knowing if its original to the car...

Wasn't the #51 Powers Welding car that Vogler and Larry Gates sometimes drove a Shores Car from that time period? It would run pretty well. Eddie Leavitt had quite a few top 3 finishes in it and some fast times.

The torque tube hoop has been added since your car was built. And tapered steel rear axles were still very common in the late 70's. |

MSCS20, yes, the seat bar seems extremely low! Any idea why its angled? Its lower on the left side...

I have no idea what the thought process was for that. But after knocking a couple of drive lines out, my car owner had it changed, as did most others.

Not 100% sure but i'd say the tube is lower on the left side so that the seat is tilted & when the car is over on the RR the driver is sitting level.
