USAC in PA

FYI, when the USAC boyz come to PA the fans of PA have put together a little motivation for their feature at Williams Grove. In memory of a good friend, road warrior, and HUGE USAC fan Mike Grassmyer, a Hard Charger Award has been posted. Mike, a resident of PA, passed away in 2007. As I said, he was a big fan of the racing in Indiana, and would think nothing of driving out for the weekend to see the action that USAC and all of the warriors in your neck of the woods provided. He spoke highly of the fans and drivers from your area. Mike was always involved in the fund raising events we would have in PA. Events like the National Open Chili Cook-Off and BeerHill Gang Hard Charger Awards were always strongly supported by Mike (a.k.a. DustyBrew). In the memory and honor of DustyBrew, Mike's friends have raised an extrodinary amount of $$, and last I heard there was over $500.00 for both the USAC and ARDC Hard Charger, the driver that passes the most cars in the feature. Just wanted everyone to know that we appreciate the mid-west boyz towing in to entertain us. More info on the award can be found at the link enclosed below.

Mike was one of the three guys who got me involved in USAC and traditional Sprints and Midgets over the years. Every week he was at Williams Grove, he would make it a point to come over and talk about my latest trip out to Indiana or about his latest trip or upcoming trips. He was a great guy. Always there for other people and when the need arose, he was very supportive of the various charity events that Drak mentioned above. The world needs more people like Mike was. We miss him very much.
A huge round of applause to Mike's close circle of friends who went around and collected money from fans, racers, officials, just about everyone and anyone who knew that it would go to honor someone who was very special to us here in the PA racing world. A better fitting honor to Mike's memory, than to award the hard chargers at an all wingless event in PA, could not be found. :thumb |

Very Cool To See That The Usac Cars Are In Pa. Thanks To One Of The Old School Racers In Usac. The Pa Fans Should Give A Big Thanks To Gregg Staab For Getting The Pa Swing Done. This Guy Just Lives For Our Sport. Great Job Gregg Way To Go.

Many thanx for the welcome FRR, and many thanx to Mr. Staab for getting this tour scheduled. I make it out your way as much as possible, but the tow is allot easier on me if the boyz come East.
![]() Looking forward to some great racing the next few days!! Keep your ears open for the final total for the Hard Charger Awards.:wink |

The DustyBrew Hard Charger Awards were handed out at Big Diamond last night due to the rain-out at Williams Grove on Wednesday. I didn't hear final $$ totals, but I'll get that as well as the stats (# of cars passed) for you eventually. In the USAC Sprint feature the hard charger was Brady Bacon and in the ARDC feature Darren Hagen took home the award. R.I.P. DustyBrew.
On to Hagerstown for the sprinters. Weather looks good, possibly a shower, although temps will be in the mid 90's. :action-smiley-049: |

I heard that each driver received about a thousand dollars, which is a pretty amazing number that the PA fans donated! Both drivers had to work very hard as it was difficult to pass, especially with such a tight field...
Thanks to all those who donated. It's always cool to see the teams get some extra money. RIP DustyBrew! |
