Joliet sprint/midget doubleheader cancelled?

Well, it appears that the doubleheader that was scheduled for Sept. is no longer. It is no longer on USCA's schedule and I don't believe it actually ever made it to Rt. 66's schedule. Interestingly enough, the WoO race scheduled for July suffered the same fate.

Dano, from what I heard the reason both races have been cancelled was because the racetrack was going to try and replace most of the dirt with some really good clay from down south and that they didn't do what they said they were going to do. The dirt that is in that track right now is from the retention pond in front of the dragstrip. About a month ago I was out there talking to a friend that worked the track and he said he has heard some talk in the office that they are going to pave the 1/2 mile.

The track has so much potential, it just drives me nuts to see nothing but demo derbies taking place there!!!

Maybe they can get some old video of the racing at Santa Fe speedway it was a nice half-mile and had good dirt on it.Do not want to see them pave it what a waste of money that would be another follow the leader pavement track.

I was looking forward to that show too. I know it is a pipe dream, but it would be nice if USAC would schedule something that weekend. Maybe a makeup of the Hoosier Hundred and possibly a midget race at Kamp. I'm sure it's not that easy to just schedule races, but it would make up for some prior responsibilities.

That sucks! I was looking forward to this race since I was going to be there for the IRL race anyways.

I have a old tape of Sante Fe when espn did a sprint race from there in the 1980's was a good show.Personally I wish they would go to Terre Haute and make there track this now the new promoter's have done a great job so far have not seen the track that good since I started going there in the early 1990's.

P.S. they should also take a good look at what they charge for admission and concession's at Terre Haute to because they sure did a very bad job when they tried to run the dirt track at Joliet before.

Santa Fe Speedway was great! We lived about 50 miles from there and I couldnt wait to go every time! Of all the race tracks I've been to, it is still my favorite track ever to this day.
