1. We're coming from Speedway. Should we stay on I70, or switch to US40 somewhere? Which exit? Or, is there yet a better route?
2. I heard the fair is NOT on. True? 3. What time can we get in for blanket placing? |

We had no trouble last time with I-70 construction, Exit #7 US 40 south and fair is past, like you thought. Can't help with the blanket thing though, i'm always late. Enjoy the races, bob.

You can get in at 4 for blanket placement. I-70 is hit/miss but I've found that coming westbound is far less congested and less of a back-up than the eastbound lanes. You might try the Indiana State Police website while in route if you have access on your cell phone; they update periodically. If so and there is a standstill, use exit #41, go north to 40, then continue on westward to Brazil and re-enter 70 there. The bad area is between #41 *(Greencastle) and # 23 (Brazil). Good luck on whichever route you choose!

Good options from "just dirt", but let me add my 2 cents worth. On US 40 there are alot of little burgs with Barney Fifes in them. So when you get to the edge of town, and it says 30 mph, believe it! Hope i can save you a couple hundred $$$. bob.

I attended the Hell Tour race at THAT last Thursday night. The construction barrels had been removed from all of the eastbound lanes while the westbound lanes still had them for about 6-7 miles (MM 39-33 I believe). They did have a message board that said that the next day there would be a traffic pattern change. Only assuming, but I would imagine that they were going to set the barrels back out closing the other lanes for construction.
I made it through without much of a delay on Thursday but most of the summer has seen lengthy delays. Highway 40 is the best alternate route but as Bob said, watch your speed. All of the little towns need additional funding and we certainly don't want it to come out of race fans pockets. ![]() ![]()
