MOTORSPORTS PRESS RELEASE – JOSH WISE RACING
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, MAY 21, 2008 MEDIA CONTACT: Troy Hennig: thennig@sbcglobal.net WEBSITE: www.joshwiseracing.com Josh Wise Enters NASCAR Nationwide Series Event at Charlotte This Weekend By Troy Hennig CORNELIUS, NC (5-21-08) – Josh Wise will drive the #22 Supercuts Dodge for Fitz Motorsports in the Nationwide race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway this weekend. The Carquest Auto Parts 300 will take place at 7 pm Eastern on Saturday night, May 24. The race is considered a "home" event since the majority of competitors and organizations are based in the area even though their hometowns may be located elsewhere. With the commitment to the Nationwide Series race, Wise will be unable to compete in the 100-lap Silver Crown Race at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on May 23 and the following night’s 50-lap Night Before the 500 at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis. “I am really excited about this weekend with Fitz Motorsports,” said Wise. “I am going to miss not racing with USAC but I also didn’t want to pass this chance to be at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and running a Nationwide Series event.” Wise has been busy testing the Car of Tomorrow (COT) at various ovals and road course. He has tested the COT at Toyota Arizona Proving Ground (TAPG) and the 2.25-mile road course at VIRginia International Raceway. Wise ran his first NASCAR Nationwide Series race last year for Fitz Motorsports at the O’Reilly Raceway Park and was running in the top ten before a late race accident dropped him to 19th. “Last year we proved we could compete with the other teams and hopefully we can do the same this weekend,” said Wise. Practice for the Carquest Auto Parts 300 starts 1 pm Eastern on May 22. SPEED TV will carry the practice session live. Qualifying for the event will take place May 24 at 3:30 pm Eastern. This also will be on SPEED TV. The race itself will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 7 pm Eastern on May 24. This weekend’s racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway will mark the first start of his career at this challenging high-speed 1.5-mile oval. It’s nothing new or out of the ordinary for the former open-wheel USAC champion who continues to gain valuable experience. “I’ve tested a few laps in a truck here but as with last year most of these NASCAR tracks are a completely new experience for me,” said Wise. Coming soon will be the release of the brand new Josh Wise Racing web site. It will feature schedules, bio information and a fan message board. The direct link is www.joshwiseracing.com. END |
