Ed Esser, America's #1 Race Fan, passed away on March 1, 2012. Ed won NSSN's Super Fan Contest for several years in a row before starting his trek to become the fan who visited the most race tracks in the world. He would have become #1 in that too had his life not ended so soon. Rest in Peace, Ed. You will be missed by many. The full obituary is below.
Edward J. Esser Madison - Edward Jonathan Esser, 65, of Madison, Wisconsin passed away Thursday March 1st, 2012, at his home. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on November 15th, 1946. He was committed to his community and volunteered his time with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and the Stoughton Optimist Club. Ed worked as an accountant in the Madison area for many years. He started with White, Reinholtz and Pfefferkorn in 1970, moved on to General Heating, and then ended his career at Nelson Industries in Stoughton. Ed was an avid race fan and was seen many a night at the Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughters participate in various activities. I knew Ed for 25 years. He sat behind me for years at
Angell Park. Racing at Angell Park will not be the same without seeing & visiting with him. He was a great friend. RIP Ed. Best Regards, John |
