where is everyone running this year? we have a 1000 upright on gas and want to run anywhere this year in the indiana/kentucky/illinois area. like to find some one running on fri nights as i have to be at work 4am on sundays. at least 2 1/2 hour drive from washington in southern indiana. we love lawrenceburg and will probably be there as much as we can but where else is there. thanks everyone for any help

hello im just a fan but i saw this and thought it was pretty cool. I saw u had a 1000 cc mini sprint and i would like too invite u to run Montpelier Speedway in Montpelier Indiana. Here are the rules and take a look. Montpelier Motor Speedway - 2012 Midget Rules

Rules

Midgets

Appearance

All cars shall appear and fit the guidelines of a “traditional” midget

Weight

Minimum Weight - 1,050 Pounds (Including Driver) - Cars powered by Fontana, Esslinger, Stanton, Gaerte, and other purpose built engines are legal and will fall under this guideline.



Midgets Powered By Spec Engines, Volkswagen, Entirely Stock Production Block and Head, Chevy II, etc... - No Minimum Weight

Tires

Open Tire Rule (Compound and Brand) All 4 Corners with a maximum 10" width right rear

ü Use of only 1 right rear for entire race event (heat race and features) unless approved by race official to be flat or a potential safety hazard. If a replacement is required, the replacement tire must be the same compound and brand as the tire being approved for removal. All tires will be stamped following hot laps.



Mini Sprints

Appearance

All cars shall appear as a “traditional” midget

Engine/Drive Train

All 1000CC and greater Upright Mini Sprints (Non Wing) are eligible to compete in the midget class. Cars falling under Mini Sprint rules will be motorcycle engine powered and may be chain driven or utilize a traditional driveline and quick-change rear end.

All cars under caution and restarts shall maintain an idle speed as great as the full production midget. Cars that fail to do this will be sent to the tail.

Weight

No Minimum Weight

Tires

Open Tire Brand/Compound with a maximum 12" width right rear.

Safety

All drivers must wear flame retardant uniforms, gloves, head socks, shoes and SNEL approved safety helmets.

All drivers must use double over the shoulder harness, lap belt, crotch strap and arm restraints. Side nets and neck collars suggested

Competitor's Age

Competitors may compete in the midget class at age 14 with proper documents and proof of racing experience at the race director's discretion.

Class Split

At the race director's discretion, class may be split into two classes (Midgets and Mini-Sprints) if car count or competition level necessitates it.

A points fund will be paid for the 10 races. Amounts to be announced.

Heat Race (Invert)
Trophy Dash
Features (Possible Redraw - Top 2 From Each Heat)

Trophy Dash (6 Laps Featuring Bottom 2-3 Midgets from each heat race)

Trophy Dash Winner receives trophy presented on the front stretch at the conclusion of the Dash

Finishing position determines starting position in feature

If a BMain is needed, the BMain will become the trophy dash

14-16 Midgets (2 Heats of 7-8 Midgets) Bottom 3-4 Midgets From Each Heat To Trophy Dash

19-20 Midgets (3 Heats of 6-7 Midgets) Bottom 2-3 Midgets From Heat To Trophy Dash
21+ Midgets B Main/Trophy Dash

Lots of races at Brownstown, Salem, Bloomington and North Vernon with the MMSA. I believe AMSA has some at Charelston which shouldn't be to far from you.

Your best pay out will be with one of the series.. Pay out at a weekly show will never be over $150 and prolly like 30 to start.. With the series your more likley to be 75- 100 to start.. 500-1000 to win..

Little Salem is a great place to start, Friday nights make it hard on us, the pay aint too good, the races are not crowded due to low car count plenty of racing room, one of the best mini sprint tracks around (period) when prepped right. Go for it SEAT TIME> SEAT TIME> SEAT TIME> have fun.

The Illinois Lightning Sprint Series has a pair of dates at Farmer City Speedway which is on the eastern half of Illinois. i appreciate all the replies. fri nights works best for us with my job so we wikk probably be running at thunder valley alot this year. i tried calling the track info # and got a recording from thanksgiving. anyone know what rules they run under for 1000 uprights. web page doesnt give rules for this class
