One year and 12 days ago the announcement that Kyle Larson was going to drive midgets for Keith Kunz was posted on IOW. 53 weeks and 5 days from "Kyle who" to a NASCAR development contract, and not a contract with just any old team. One of my comments at the time was that I hoped he could get a few sprint rides. I guess that worked out pretty well.
I certainly wish him the best and am glad that we got to watch him for a year in the Midwest. I hope that he comes back whenever he can to race open wheel. Lets not forget, however, that we still get to watch great drivers. It was BC who came out on top of IMW and the great midget race at Putnamville. So many of the races which Kyle won were exciting because he had great battles to win, and so many of the races he didn't win were exciting because of the battle with other excellent drivers. I am happy for Kyle, but look forward to another great year of racing with all the talented drivers we get to watch week in and week out. See you at the races.

I hope that deal works out for Kyle at Ganassi. I just keep thinking about Bryan Clauson and Ganassi. It didn't go well for Bryan.

First, I am a Kyle Larson fan. It is exciting that he can jump in any type of car and go fast. I have been lucky to see him in person several times race a midget, and always was impressed.
However, did anyone find this article interesting? How many driver development deals have actually worked out for the driver? How many "successes" has Ganassi had? How many "failures" have Ganassi had? I was also surprised to see that Kyle is part of the diversity program. This is the first time that his heriage or race has ever been mentioned. It seems interesting that he signs a deal with Ganassi and now his heritage comes into play. |

Kyle made it 2 for 2 with fenders! That kid is something I am sure we are not going to see for a while.
