I followed Harli's story back when she got burned...the only racing sadness I have ever felt that matched the feeling of reading about Harli's accident was when I got the call from one of my buddies telling me of Jesse Hocketts demise. I have no doubt that there were at least 25,000 people praying for Harli, probably many times more than that...
When I learned that her recovery was basically over I was ecstatic.... When I learned that she wanted to race again and that a future of racing is what fueled her recovery I was completely inspired....
Then last October at the 2 day midget race in Oklahoma City I had the pleasure of meeting Harli for the first time.....she was running a non wing micro in the support class...I introduced myself, told her how happy I was that she made it thru her horrific ordeal, and how many people from Missouri that she had never met were praying for her...she was very thankful and appreciative..then we started talking about her racing. She told me she had worked out a deal to run one of McQueens cars at the Chili Bowl...the excitement was pouring out of her...it was really neat to see her so happy and motivated.
In our 5 minute chat I figured out 2 things about Harli......1) She is an AMAZING person...such a sweet girl...so polite yet energetic...the kind of person everyone hopes their child will become.....
2)That girl is a racer...in every sense of the word...she eats sleeps dreams and breathes it...and is as driven to be a racer as anybody thats ever buckled in.
THen I watched her compete as much as I could over the weekend......thats when I learned that HARLI WHITE IS A GASSER!!!!! In a big way....smooth when needed and a cowboy when needed...a great talent behind the wheel...
Mark my words....this girl will go somewhere in this sport...anybody with that much talent and desire can't be denied....but regardless of how far she goes in racing she will go straight to the top of being a great person...
