x Schmidt/Meskowski sprint car

am looking for info re the x Schmidt sprint car #44, Meskow. #8,
sold to a Long (Long Olds/Pontiac) in 1963. car driven by a Wayne Wolfe. possibly drove car with outlaw sprints @ Bloomington in '63. entered @ W. Grove 3-31-63, DNQ. mechanic shown as a Buck Burkhart. no known state, city or town. info on HAMB, pg. 823, #16449 & 16452 (hope this is permissible). any ideas or info as to post '63 history welcome. (i.e. car is in local garage, intact but dusty, yeah, right) Thanks, mlight9 |

I know a fellow named Buck Burkhart who works in the service dept at Gates Automotive Group in Martinsville, IN. He has told me about a sprint car he was involved with that had a Pontiac engine back in the 60's. No mention of the history of the chassis. He is listed in the staff section of their website. Probably a long shot...

There was a Wayne Wolfe who raced supermods in southern Indiana in the 60's.

Wayne Wolfe was a regular at Lawrenceburg back in the 60's. I remember him driving a #55, and Ross Smith drove a Pontiac powered sprinter for a couple of years at the burg in the early 60's....it was purple and white with a single digit # on it (#4???). I believe a guy they called "Woody" (who worked for MagnaFlux) had involvement with the pontiac powered car...
