I have some vintage fiberglass pieces that have the "spider" type cracks in them and wondered if anyone can tell me how to fix or prep them so they don't reappear after painting. thanks rc

First of all it is very hard to tell you how to do it without seeing the parts.. are they small or larger spiders ( it will make a difference in how you repair them) also since you say vintage I would ask you if this is going to be just show or are you actually going to run it? I'm in Michigan, not sure where you are located but would be more than happy to help if you can get me some more details. Pics would even help since we may be a ways apart.. Feel free to PM me here or send me a e-mail at kevinlincoln@hogantechnologies.com

Thanks for the reply. The cracks are fairly big.....almost like something hit from under the hood although the cloth side appears ok. I'll try and get a photo to ya. thanks, ron c. wooster,oh

spider cracks in fiberglass are almost always in the gel coat.carefully sand away the gel coat down to the glass.prime with a two part
primer and refinish.DO NOT PRIME OVER CRACKS. |
