I am heading out to Phoenix and Perris for the USAC shows. Would appreciate advice on where to sit at each track. Wondering if General Admission is OK, or is Reserved worth the extra cost. Also, is advance purchase necessary or is walk-up fine?

Thanks, Captrat

I've never been to Canyon, but have never had a problem at Perris. Fans just don't seem to go to the races on Thursday or Friday. Unless something dramatic happens, you should be OK walking in Thursday. I always sit going into turn 1, but none of the grandstands are near capacity on Thursday or Friday.

As stated previously in regards the Oval Nationals, the first two nights general admission will not be a problem at all. However, I would definitely purchase reserve tickets Friday in the area of your choice for Saturday nights action. After watching the preliminary racing you'll no doubt have a good idea where you want to be setting for the finally.

I envy all of you who get to be there in person. This is a must see show for any sprint car fan. Perris is a gorgeous venue and the racing is second to none.

Have a great time!

I sat in the first turn at Perris also, good spot. You just have to sit far enough around the turn so the catch fence doesn't obscure the front straight.

Since I previously said I had no problems, I thought I would post this for the sake of accuracy. Unlike the other times I have been to Perris, I found the first 4-5 or 6 rows taped off going into turn 1 when I got into the grandstands about 1:00 pm Wednesday. We aren't talking a few seats, but the narrow section which is closest to turn 1, the next whole section, and the first few rows in the next whole section. Don't know what the other end was like.

I was told later that a few people went out Monday and taped off the top part of the grandstand. Unfortunately, most of the saved seats weren't used until Saturday (and then the saved parts weren't filled to more than 2/3 capacity), and there were even two blankets down reserving about 15 or so spaces that were never used. The philosophy this year was obviously to tape off as much as you had material for in the possibility that all your friends might want to come.

Kind of makes you appreciate what Kokomo did for Sprint Week. I don't believe I have ever seen anything like this in Indiana.
