I went to Pennsylvania for the Eastern Storm, I went to Indiana for Sprint Week and I went to Ohio for the Four Crowns. At each event I saw JJ Hughes in the stands somewhere, sometimes the front straight and sometimes the back, but each time I saw him carrying a couple of t-shirts. At the Four Crowns I saw him randomly walk up to a child and give him a shirt, talk a little while and autograph it. I finally found him and asked. He said, "if it weren't for fans most of us would not be doing this. Keeping fans in the seats helps this sport survive. Most kids would rather play video games or watch a ball-sport game. If we give them a great experience when they are young, then maybe they will bug their dad to come more often. One shirt a week will not cost any team a significant amount over a year. The smile and wave from a child as you are pushing off is priceless." What a kid!

Jj is a great kid. And he always makes it a priority to get to the stands with a shirt. I had the great opportunity of working with jj and his family the last couple of years. Jjs like a brother to me and his family is just as great. Sucks for all of us that jj won't be on the track next year in the family 76.
