Personally, I prefer it to be right in the middle between heavy and slick. You know, just a little bit of rubber down, but not black all over the place. I like 'em when they're fast and they're backing them in real hard. But when it's too heavy, it's too fast and no one can pass. I'm very curious to see what drivers have to say. If I remember correctly, Mr. Hewitt loved a heavy track. Hopefully, this doesn't start WWIII.

heavy track all the way...black track is watching late models race and grass grow.....no passing jmo

I wouldnt say theres NO passing on a black slick track...

Ive seen no passing on a heavy, hammer down, tack-fest before.

Ive also seen great races on both types of surfaces.

that is because Jack had to have a big cushun to hold him on the track , At bloomington he would run the rim for 10 or so laps leading the race and slip over the top , and out of the lead to the tail , but give him 5 laps and he was fighting for the lead again. I like to set up for a black slick track my self. Then its up to the driver to be smooth. Tacky tracks , its everyone is a little more even, setup does not come in to play as much and the average driver can run with the better drivers. When it slicks out then you see who is set and who can drive.

I have seen great races at both and some real stinkers at both as well. Give me side by side racing and it really doesn't matter to me. A convoy doesn't interest me very much though.

That is why dirt track racing is so much fun. The track is different every single night and it is up to the drivers to figure it out and adjust accordingly.

Like you guys, I've seen great races on both ends of the spectrum. I do prefer the heavy tracks as long there is the ability to pass. I guess because the cars are going a lot faster. Sometimes on a slick track it seems like the driver could get out and run faster through the turns.

I like the tracks that get left alone all night. That way it is usually heavy early and slicks off by feature time. Everyone gets what they want at some point in the night. When the track gets worked before the feature it just kills the passing for about 15 laps or more.

Off to B'ton. Which is a track as described above.

black slick but not locked down thens there no passing just like lps tuesday,when it takes rubber you get in line and follow the leader just like a heavy track does every ones fast no passing jmo

Heavy, like how Slammin' Sam, got his nickname hittin' the cushion. I've heard people call it a curb also!

A curb? lol There's a lot of truth to that when the cushion is especially tall. I've never had the privelidge of getting to drive a car, but I've seen plenty of people slam into a tall cushion and it doesn't look fun at all. Although, on second thought, you're in a racecar. So it's all fun right? At least as long as you're not on your lid or breaking rear ends anyway. :2:
