Mother Nature Claims First Victory of 2011

The 2011 D'Arcy GMC STARS Series has been threatened by rain in each of its first 3 weeks. The first 2 weeks were successfully completed. However, last Saturday night’s 30% chance of rain arrived and put an end to the 7th annual Carter/Anderson Classic presented by Freakster's Roadhouse at the conclusion of the practice session.

20 National Midgets along with the STARS Classic Modified Dwarf Cars, Town & Country Lanes INEX Legends and CRS Mini-Cup cars filled the pits. At the conclusion of practice, USAC National Midget standout Tanner Swanson topped the speed charts with a 14.490 second lap. Swanson along with RFMS teammate Darren Hagen, Dillon Welch, Jimmy Simpson, and 2010 track champion Mario Marietta all made the stop at Grundy County Speedway Saturday as a tune up for this weeks USAC National "Freedom 50" at Grundy.

The 7th Annual Carter/Anderson Classic presented by Freakster's Roadhouse has been rescheduled for August 13, 2011. Anyone who was in attendance last Saturday night may bring their ticket stubs back to Grundy County Speedway to any of the remaining STARS events except for next weeks USAC National event. All pit pass credentials can be used as a “rain check” for any STARS event at the Grundy County Speedway during the 2011 season (with the exception of the July 2nd event).

The next race event is this Saturday July 2nd. The inaugural “Freedom 50” will feature the USAC National Midget Series joining with the STARS National Midget Series for this event. A strong field is expected for this event. Joining the national midgets will be the USAC Ford Focus and USAC Young Guns divisions. This will be the first time the USAC Nationals have been at the Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Illinois. The pit gates will open at 2:30, and the Spectator gates will open at 5:00. Adult tickets are $15 and children 12 and under are free with a paying adult. For additional information visit the STARS website at www.stars-racing.com or call Joe at (630) 408 8465.
