I stay at the HI Express in Gas City. $90 a night. Kokomo has big variety of motels, plenty to choose from. I have stayed at the HI Express there but it's hard to find and over $100 a night. The Gas City HI Exp is much better IMO. For seating, go to Gas City in the morning and put down a blanket or you will be in the first four rows. Seating there is very uncomfortable. Kokomo, if you want to sit with the sun at your back sit on the backstretch. Sit high as close to turn 2 as possible or you will experience some mud. I have never seen a bad race at Kokomo during Sprintweek. Be careful the races are addictive, I will be driving 1000 miles to see the races for the 6th year in a row.

We are staying in North Indy (appox 45 mins. away from both tracks) I went on Hotwire and paid 48 a night to stay at a Staybridge suites hotel. There is all kinds of things to do around there.
Have fun and be safe driving

If I had to sit in the main grandstands at Gas City I wouldn't go to the track. They are that bad. However, for a little more you can get a pit pass and sit in the pit grandstands which are at the turn 3-4 end of the track. I really like the view from there, very different. For Sprint Week I would really recommend getting a pit pass at Kokomo also, just so you can get into the grandstands before the crowd.
As for eating, you will usually see some fans and/or racers eating after the races at the Waffle House and International House of Pancakes in Kokomo, both after the Gas City and Kokomo races. IHOP is better. During the day there is a good Cracker Barrel, but it is closed by the time the races are over. I have been going up there fairly regularly since 2003 and haven't found other good places. I have stayed at the Super 8 in Kokomo for several years at an AARP rate of around $40, give or take a couple of bucks. It is OK unless you have to have internet access. Sometimes I have no trouble and sometimes I have no internet. Beats me. Gas City has a good ice cream place on the west side of town.
As far as things to do during the day, there really isn't much in either town. The economy has hit Kokomo especially hard. I would go to Indy to the Speedway museum.
Have a great time. You should enjoy both tracks if Gas City has the track in shape. No worry about that at Kokomo. Should be great races there.

I would also suggest the Indy Speedway Museum espically if you have never been before. If you go to the museum Dawson's at 1464 Main St. in Speedway is a good place to eat and not far from the race track. You can find their menu on line at Dawson's Speedway Restaurant, they open at 11 A. M. Mon. thru Sat.. Other options would be Kelly's Pub II at 16th & Lynnhurst, Yukon Jack's or The Pit Stop in Bronwsburg if you should travel over to the museun.

I always stay in Kokomo. After the race in Gas City just make the 30 mile drive and your ready for the next day/night of races. Best seats at Gas City are in the pits. Enjoy the races.

Patti,
I think that Kelly's Pub Too is at 10th & Lynnhurst not 16th.
