One of these is now a pretty famous person! In fact, most of them are, in their own right, or at least well known in racing! Bob

Cecil, I know it's killin ya, but the "kid" in the short suit, is Tony Stewart, his dad, Nelson, a friend and helper in the early day, Curt Meyer, most of the other guys raced karts also, myself, and I've probably built over 200 street rods, TQ midgets, raced about everything, Terry Shirley, raced and owned about everything too, ARCA, ASA, went to work for Dave Marcus, when Dave was doing R&D for Dale Earnhardt, when the restricter plates were first enforced, Dave would send parts home with Terry, for me to machine, he didn't want anyone finding out what they were doing, that was before the "plate". Terry went on to Felix for a while, as a crew chief, then to Brewco, with a Nationwide team, out of Owensboro, now he's at C&R, their connection to NASCAR, and he did sub for a few Cup teams, when the occasion arose. Just some good ole boys, from Seymour, In, helpin out where we could, still have some guys working in fabrication, for some of the major teams. That Picture was taken at Barnsville, Ga, probably in the early 70's, we traveled a lot then, and Tony and Nelson would usually slide in on Sat morning. Those were the good old days, one reason I have a close connection to Nascar, up until about 10 years ago, I had raced go-karts with about half of the field, when they were just getting started. Bob

Yeah, we used to go to Frankies DQ a lot after the races at Columbus, lot of good racers got their start there, Puterbaugh, Kenny Irwin, Lake Speed would show up once in a while, came all the way here to drive for AP's dad, George Pollock, Mark Green called me about a yr ago, looking for his old Margay Kart, or one like it, he had found his Hartman, he and Lake were gonna see who was the best, at Quincy last summer. I hadn't noticed the DQ patch, the first time there, he still had the Nasau panel on the front, and a "wing" on the back, with a big DQ decal, Dickie Wilson, who ran the track had a hard time getting Nelson to understand, you don't go on the track, with the wing, first time anyone had challanged Nelson, he wanted to get practice in then remove it, but Dickie convinced him, that "it don't go on the race track". Good times back then. Last time I had a chance to talk to Tony, which has been a long time, he remembered it, and he had been back to Barnsville, course Dickie was gone, but Jr was there, and he and Tony had a good visit, they did tour the track, but not on karts, he didn't know if Joe would like it if he got hurt. Yeah, I guess you could call it "gnarly", I liked road courses, but that one was a bit tight, we'd usually get there on Wed nite, and go practice on Thurs and Fri, course Haddock, and Pruett were always there, Joey Lanati, all the big guns, we were fast, till Sat morning, they all had new tires, all we had were wore out. Lesson learned. Joey stabbed the brake, at the end of the long straight, the rotor broke, and that shut things down for a while. Didn't Knoke buy a Sprint car off of you? Bob

No Kerry, that's Jim Waskom, used to race karts, was on Whittymore's ARCA pit crew, tire changer I think. Slinky has his hands in his pockets, that was early March, and we always got to see snow there. Bob

Bob, I'm guessing that it's the same Curt Meyer who sells insurance here. Correct?
