FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAY 5, 2011
CONTACT: Dick Jordan EXTREMELY WET GROUNDS FORCE SATURDAY’S PUTNAMVILLE SPRINT RACE POSTPONEMENT Weather conditions have intervened to force postponement of this Saturday’s AMSOIL USAC National Sprint race at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind. “The past couple of weeks have been challenging for us and we need a weekend to regroup and address the problems associated with all the inclement weather,” says race organizer Joe Spiker. “We want to provide USAC and its participants with the best racing conditions possible and due to the rain and other factors we are unable to do that this weekend. We plan to be closed this weekend so that we can install additional drainage and make other improvements to our facility to help prepare for similar weather situations in the future.” USAC officials are in discussion with the race organizer to re-schedule the event as part of the remaining 2011 AMSOIL National Sprint Car schedule. The next AMSOIL USAC National Sprint race is May 20 at the Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway. --USAC-- |

All the racing is cancelled. Joe plans on finishing the current work to the track surface along with adding drainage tile behind front stretch guardrail and through the pits along with other things.
They are currently cutting the mud off on turns 1 & 2 |

Wow ... big call there from the Spiker group, but given the track conditions from the first two races, this is the right call ! the extraordinary amount of rain in the past month and a bunch of new dirt on the racing surface that really hasn't had a chance to be worked in correctly this is the right thing to do! Good Luck to the folks at LPS

Hate to hear it, but glad you made the call early enough to allow fans to make alternate plans.

I really appreciate this early announcement. Lincoln Park is just a little under a 400 mile round trip for me, and Mother's Day is Sunday. It is nice to have a little time to make plans. The right decision announced in a very timely manner. Thanks to everyone involved.

Excellent decision made here. I can tell you that what is going on at the track is only being done because it is needed. With that being said, this will give all you Bomber and Super Stock guys the chance to go over your cars and get everything squared away that may need it to be within the rules.
A big thanks to everyone that had a motor placement issue that got it fixed prior to the last race. Make sure when you guys come to the track next week to have your safety belts replaced if needed. Rules say no older than 2006. This is for your safety. Also a plate under the fuel cell that extends from frame rail to frame rail. NO spoilers!! Also thanks for being patient with me, I am new at this and may be a little slow. Anyone that knows me, can tell you that I will be fair and treat you with as much respect as I am given. I am also in the process of learning who most of you are. If we have not met, come see me and introduce yourself to me. Thanks Gregg Slover |
