BOSS Sprint Cars Invited to Test-N-Tune at K-C Raceway
The 2011 BOSS non wing sprint car series is still in negotiations with several tracks in and around Ohio. With the series' late formation and announcement, it has made scheduling races for this season difficult. In addition, many promoters are understandably taking the "wait and see" approach to see how the series does in 2011. With the uncertain economy, many promoters are tightening the belt on their schedules until they see how crowds and car counts will be this season. Several Ohio track's have indicated an intention to run the BOSS series in 2012 or possibly adding races later in the 2011 season. It appears that the series will consist of around 7 races for this season, but as stated in the beginning, this season is just a "starter" mini series and 2012 will be the first full BOSS season. In other news, West Virginia Motor Speedway has signed on to run the BOSS tour for Saturday, July 9th to run in conjunction with the All Star Circuit of Champions sprints in a unique combination deal. The Mineral Wells, West Virginia speedplant is getting a facelift and will be shortened to a 4/10 mile track. BOSS will be part of history as they will compete in a 2 day event May 28th and 29th to kick-off the new look of the facility. All 3 events at WVMS will pay $2,000 to win and will pay back 14 positions before start money kicks in, which will be $300 to start. Watch for a press release coming soon about the special 2 day event with camping and hotel info. K-C Raceway owner Jeff Schrader has extended an invitation to all drivers who plan to race with BOSS to participate in their Test-N-Tune day scheduled for Saturday, April 2nd. K-C will be the site of the series finale on Saturday night October 1st as K-C celebrates 100 years of auto racing in Ross County. The Test-N-Tune session will be free of charge to everyone, including pit passes. The only fee charged will be $25 per car that takes to the race track. The gates will open at 11:00 am with the track open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, The pit concession will be open and fuel will be available at the track. Watch the series website at www.buckeyesprints.com for news and more dates to be added soon including news on special bonus awards that will be available at each event. If you plan to run any BOSS races, please submit a driver bio form that can be found on the site. If you have any questions, e-mail sprinter14@hotmail.com or call 740-703-3768. |
