I just received this email message from Arizona Speedway @ ET Motopark:

We have all been waiting and it is finally here the GRAND OPENING of Arizona Speedway @ ET Motopark The Valleys Fastest Dirt Track Saturday April 2nd. The first night of exciting action will feature USRA Modifieds, AZ Mod Lights, SCRA and the Bombers. Racing begins Saturday April 2nd with continued racing every Saturday night. Gates open at 6:00pm with Racing starting at 7:30pm. Pits open at 4:00pm. Admission is $12.00 adults, $6.00 kids 11-15, and kids 10 and under always free at Arizona Speedway. Pit Passes $30.00 per person. Parking is free. Lawn Chairs are ok, sorry no coolers. Food and Adult Beverages provided by Finsh Line Cantina.

According to the schedule posted on their website, non-wing sprints will run once a month in May, June & July. (The SCRA shown on the schedule is Stock Car Racing Association, for post-1955, stock appearing cars.) I hope the track does well. All you valley dwellers get out and support them.

It is soooooooo good to see a track opening, not closing. I wish them the very best of luck. Even though I am from central Illinois, I will get to the track sometime. Thanks for the update.

I agree. Too little of the former; too much of the latter.

While I've not gone to a short track race that didn't have Sprints, Midgets or Mini Sprints on the card in 20+ years, I cant wait for April 2nd to roll around. Really looking froward to being able to go to a track without having to burn up a tank of gas. Here's to good car counts, good track prep & good fan support at ET!!

I'm thinking that first cold barley pop is going to taste mighty fine there on opening day...Cant Wait!!

Arizona Speedway opened up on April 2nd with over 4000 spectators and had a Great show. There were 16 Modifieds, 22 Mod Lites, 25 SCRA Pure Stocks and 25 Bombers. If you get to the Phoenix area come out and enjoy the new track.

And watch for the #14 Black and yellow Bomber.
