Certainly not a surprise but for sure a real disappointment. Firestone has been synonymous with IndyCar racing. It will be interesting to see who steps up to the plate on this one?

What I wonder is why? Is Firestone headed to NASCRAP or some other series? I just can't imagine Firestone (Bridgstone) not being involved in some form of racing and Indy Car seems to be on the upswing.

I knew this was coming, but was hoping they would stay through '12 with the new car. You want the tires to be a constant when rolling out a new car. Now you have develop a new tire AND new car. Easier to just have to focus on one.

From what I have been reading, racing just doesn't fit into their marketing anymore. They say they aren't selling enough tires given the money they are putting into racing. I think they are going to focus more on stick and ball sponsorship. Sad thing of all is people are going to be out of job.

Looks like the "I am yesterday, I am today, I am forever" line in the Firestone television spots that ran during IndyCar coverage gets trumped by "I am losing money."
