Doesnt look like many races scheduled this year. There is a TBA on August 7th but does anybody know why they arent racing the whole rest of the month of August? Just wondering, thought it was kind of odd for the heart of racing season for them to not be racing.

This rumor earlier in the "offseason" said that they wouldn't be racing in August. School started I believe earlier in 2010 than in the past, and the crowds and car counts dwindled after sprint week and into August. Many car owners and fans can't afford three nights per weekend and it seems that the Sunday night show gets hurt the worst. In this economy, it seems like a smart business decision.

I also don't remember Gas City being dark during the season before. Promoters are looking to schedule shows that can make them money. Losers are being dropped and I wouldn't be surprised to see more tracks following along.

I am just glad that they will continue to stay open. Unfortunately, some won't be able to continue. The local tracks need butts in the seats now more than ever. If not, they won't survive.

August 7th is USAC Knoxville nationals, so I'm guessing they are trying to find a different type of car to run since all the big teams will be in knoxville
