No it is the world famous flyin ace...... He called Dad and I this winter with tales of crashing his airplane into a lake during alligator mating season . He tread water for two hours while holding his passenger up out of the water .They finally drifted close enough to a house that the homeowners could hear their calls for help . :O: That guy has to be in the top five of the luckiest cats that ever lived ........ Just ask Spille .......

I was in Ocala a couple of weeks ago to visit my dad and we decided to take in a race there at the dirt track. While sitting in the stands I could of sworn the announcer say his name but I still wasn't sure if he did. I asked my dad what he said but he couldn't hear, he's a little hard of hearing. So while I was standing next to the tech area here came his car with his name on top in the same style lettering just as it did years ago. There was no doubt in my mind it was him. During the main he was the only guy who go up and run the Paragon type cushin. He would drive in what seemed like 70 mile an faster than anyone else but it was just to far around the top. After passing more cars than anyone else he worked his way back up to fifth place finish not bad for the first time out in a heavy stockcar. We walked down after the race to meet up with him and sure enough it was him, a spitting image of his dad. It was pretty cool because he said he was thinking the same thing with me, he thought he saw me in the pits earlier but thought no way was it me all the way down there in Florida. This was the first time I've seen or talked to him since we raced together back in the early nineties so you could image all the B. S.in going on between the three of us. He told me he was now living in the Wildwood area working as a manager of a concrete plant. As far as racing goes he's planning on running there at Ocala on Friday and at Eastbay on Saturday and wouldn't mind getting back into a sprintcar. I guy just couldn't ask for anything more, beautiful weather, hanging out with dad at the races and seeing an old friend race. :thumb

I don't know that Jr. ever had the kind of rides that his dad did. I remember one night down at Lawrenceburg he was driving Duane Spille's sprinter (and they don't come any lower budget than that!!!) and he had the feature won when the steering box failed with a couple of laps to go. He could drive' em, I just don't think he had the same opportunities as his dad or, whether he took it as serious as his dad.

One night at the Burg the adjuster bolt that holds the sector shaft in the steering broke in the heat race ....... It was on the last lap and he held on to make the show ....... He and I were both flat broke and it paid 200.00 to start.... I told him to start on the tail and find a speed that was comfortable and when the leaders caught him just pull off and we had money to get home on..... Long story short , the silly goof`s "safe" speed was good enough to run fifth from the tail with 3/4 of a round of play in the steering .... :kookoo
