What if every day was pole day???
Make all 4 days open to qualify for the pole!!!! Tech inspection is afterwards. Unlimited attempts for car and driver over 4 days. Day 1 - 33 Cars qualify, any speed but have to qualify. All spots lined up by speed. Bumping into field will happen each day. Day 2 Anybody can qualify into field for Pole or to move up in field. Cars can bump in. Any driver bumped gets first chance at bumping back in. Any team can take the pole if 4 lap time is faster. Day 3 Same deal. Day 4 Every spot is open to fastest speed. Cars bumped must get into the line and the end of the line. No getting first chance on Day 4. This would create a Happy Hour Indy 500 Qualifing everyday. At the end of 4 days the fastest cars are in the race and fastest on the pole. I think now that the groups are one this change should be made this year. Pay good money for the Pole Speed of the day. Pay some money to the 11th row each day. This would make all the teams step up. It helps the guys who have a second weekend deal. They get to start by their speed, no in the back because they had a week 2 deal. It;s a different idea but think about the teams that have a chance at the pole and they miss due to weather or set up or lack of balls. Each day a race for the pole. Make a special sponsorship package for the Tony Stewarts of NASCAR and let them qualify and get money for being the fastest of their group. Kyle & Kurt Busch, Jr and others would think about it. Just a thought maybe it will grow. :dologob: |
