It was announced that Rollie Helmling will be the new Motorsports Development Director for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. It will be interesting to see how he does in this position.

Rollie will do quite well in his new job, IF his hands aren't tied behind him as they were by JC and the clowns on a certain board of directors.
An intresting "fact" from the news article that I'm sure midget fans for the past 3 decades never knew: "used to build sprint race cars in his garage".

"We wanted Rollie to lead it, because he stood out as someone who'd done it all."

Rollie is good man who has the best interest of the sport at heart, and I think he'll do well at his new job. In my opinion, he did a great job with USAC but will probably be unfairly remembered only for being there for the introduction of the "new" Silver Crown Cars

WOW!!!
A wise man once told me it was better to keep your mouth shut when you did not know what you were talking about rather than to open it and let the world know!!

This is interesting. The other day the Gov. was in town for a dedication of a new building of a customer of mine. This customer happens to build parts for many different race car parts. When the Gov. was made aware of this, he talked about the Idiana ED starting a new roll in helping Indiana advance ever further in the auto racing industy in Indiana and that an annoucement would be made of a new hire that came from USAC. What impressed me was his knowledge of the grass roots racing in Indiana with the sprints and midgets, and also the Brownsburg area being a hub for this. I think if his words are true and they let Rollie do his job, this could be a very good thing for grass roots racing in Indiana.
