American Sprint Car Tour Visits Ponderosa Speedway on Friday October 15
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ponderosa Speedway 365 Phillips Lane Junction City, Kentucky 40440 2010 Official Media Release #81 (For Immediate Distribution: October 3, 2010) Contact- Michael Despain (Mdespain7@aol.com and/or dirttrackracing@hotmail.com) American Sprint Car Tour Visits Ponderosa Speedway on Friday October 15 Junction City, KY- October 3, 2010- With the Fall Classic in the rear view mirror, Ponderosa Speedway track promoters Donnie Sullivan and family will take off this Friday October 8, but will return with a unique night of racing action on Friday October 15 as the American Sprint Car Tour will bring Sprint Car racing to “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” for the first time since 1995. The American Sprint Car Tour will visit on Friday October 15 and bring a wide-open, sideways style of racing action, as the ASCT features the non-wing, full-size 410 Sprint Cars. Also on the Friday October 15 racing program will be the Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Front Wheel Drives. Activities for the October 15 racing program will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., followed by practice at 7:15 p.m. Time trials will go around 7:45 p.m., with racing at 8:30 p.m. Ponderosa Speedway is located just off of 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Donnie and Angie Sullivan, along with their son Donnie, Jr., are the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings throughout the remainder of the 2010 race season. ASCT READY TO BATTLE IN THE BLUEGRASS STATE The American Sprint Car Tour is primed and ready for a trip south to the Bluegrass State of Kentucky with “The Battle in the Bluegrass State.” It will be the 2nd trip of the season to Kentucky where earlier this season Hud Cone held off Blake Nimee, Alex Shanks, Aric Gentry, and J.T. Stapp for the win in “The Bluegrass Shootout” at the ½ mile high-banked clay oval of the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown,KY. The first night of “The Battle in the Bluegrass State” will be at the 3/8 mile semi-banked red clay D-shaped oval of the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City Kentucky. This is a rescheduled date from the rain out earlier this season. For The First Time This Season The ASCT WILL QUALIFY!! The Sprint Cars will have 2 Laps on the clock to try to break the all time Track Record held by Victor Lee in a Super Late Model at a time of 12.744 seconds around the 3/8 mile track known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring.” The 25 Lap A-Main will pay $1500 to the Winner and $250 just to Start. $100 Tow Money is guaranteed to anyone not starting the feature event. A-MAIN BREAKDOWN 25 LAPS 1500,1000,800,700,600,550,500,475,450,400,350,325, 300,275,(15-20) $250 PITS: 3:00 pm Grandstands: 5:00 pm Drivers Meeting: 6:45 pm Warm Motors: 7:00 pm Hot Laps: 7:15 pm Qualifications: 7:45 pm Racing: 8:30 pm Grandstand GA $20 Kids 6-12 $10 Kids 5 & Under FREE PITS $35 Kids 6-12 $20 The second night of “The Battle in the Bluegrass State” will take place at the newly opened 5/16 mile semi-banked clay oval of the Lucky 7 Speedway in Whitesburg Kentucky. It will be the first time ever that Sprint Cars have raced at the facility that opened just 4 months ago. The 30 Lap A-Main will pay $2000 to Win and $250 just to start. $100 Tow Money is guaranteed to anyone not starting the feature event. A-MAIN BREAKDOWN 30 LAPS 2000,1000,725,625,525,450,425,400,375,350,325,300, 275, (14-20) $250 START TIMES & ADMISSION PRICES WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON. ** ALL SPRINT CAR DRIVERS & OWNERS who have paid their full membership will receive 100 show-up Points per night.** ** Sprints Cars Must Run an American Racer MC3, Hoosier DT3, OR Hoosier ASCS 16” Wide Medium compound on the Right Rear. We hope a full field, but who knows at this time. Ponderosa is paying the purse so maybe. We'll just have to see what happens. Fair question but you never know, I would of been at Danville Ill. a week ago but a hole in exhaust port changed all that. I know Wee 3 is going that way, and I hope many more 1425 pound cars show up.
