Modified Engine Question

Hello,
I was looking at purchasing a modified over the winter and putting it together for the 2011 season, but not sure how much engine I would need. I have a decent 383 pushing out right around 525 at the crank. Would this be enough motor to atleast get me started? I plan to run Gas City and Waynesfield to start. How much power are most of the cars putting down? Thanks in advance! Posted via Mobile Device |

I would have to agree....The biggest issues newcomers to the modified ranks have is overpowering the car while they are still trying to learn the bar setups....

An alum. head 383 should be plenty just starting out. I have seen some guys winning locally with 383's. Main thing is to get handle on how to drive the car and get setups figured out. Then you can worry about the horsepower. Remember "the tires are only so big"
