All of you Hoosiers should go out and buy a bottle of FUZZY's Premium Vodka as a thank you for the sponsorship on Ed Carpenter's car tonight. Good job all race, a second place finish as well as the pole position.
I had a chance to thank Fuzzy (Zoeller)for the Indy 500 sponsorship when he was here in Colorado playing in the PGA Senior Open golf tournament. I was working as a marshal and had a short conversation on the course and he was very gracious and enthusiastic about the 500 deal. Carpenter and Sara Fischer are the only USAC graduates left in "CART reborn" Congrats to Ed for a job well done. ![]() Vern Plotts |

Its funny how a few years ago people on this board used to have nothing nice to say about Ed Carpenter. They used to always say that he was born into wealth and given a ride because of who his stepfather was. He has certainly proven that he CAN drive an indycar. He is always competitive at the Indy 500, perhaps one of the hardest tracks in the world. We should all be proud that when he's not racing you can find him at USAC races supporting his roots. Way to go #20.

I went to my first Indy Car race that was not at Indy. This was one of my "To Do's" on my "To Do" list. I have to say, that it was a great race to watch and I was shocked at the end when Ed came into refuel because I thought he had nothing to lose. However, when it all shook out and saw he ran 2nd., I got it. If Helio didn't play the fuel game, Ed and his crew would have pulled one off.
Tonight I rooted for Ed and (booed Will Power) I was just so impressed with his driving ability from the first lap on. I'm not sure if he is doing anything to stay sharp, but considering he's only raced a few times this year, I was totally blown away by his skills last night. Lap after lap, running so close side by side, I really didn't see him make very many mistakes and he gave guys room. I enjoyed watching a driver that all of you should consider a "Racer from the old School." George Wilkins |
