Jim Travers said Keck dropped racing cars and went to thorobred racing because of his new wife's interest. Keck then becoming the only owner of a Indy winner as well a Kentucky Derby winner. My question is did his pony actually win the Derby and if so what year and name. Do any of you historians know?

1983 - Ferdinand was the horse.

Elizabeth Keck:
The horse Ferdinand won the 112th Derby on May 3, 1983. The owner of Ferdinand was Elizabeth Keck and the breeder was her husband, Howard. This horse became known for his speed and will to win.

Speaking of Ferdinand, I found this article recently:

Kind of sad.

PS..I checked and he won in 1986 and died at 19y/o in 2003.

What a shame.

Thats like reading a story on an actor, athlete or musician who was once popular and then their life turns out to have a hard to believe and sad ending.
