ASQ, this one's for you.
A great show on Saturday night at the Indy Mile. The AMA Flat Track motorcycle event was very entertaining. Bryan Smith out of Michigan set fast time on his Kawasaki and ended up edging Chris Carr for the 25 lap feature victory. Kenny Coolbeth was third followed by "Jersey" Jake Johnson, Sammy Halbert and "Smokin" Joe Kopp. Smith provided Kawasaki with it's first Indy Mile victory. He and Carr traded the lead through out the event. Smith could pull him off of the fourth corner while Carr was better coming off of the second turn. Carr's podium finish was his 200th of his career. A great crowd on hand with an extremely racey track providing a action through out the pack. A special treat was Nicky Haden as the Grand Marshall for the event. He hoped on one of the Ducati cycles and took a few laps to the delight of the crowd on hand. The CEO & President of Ducati announced before the races that they have signed Nicky to a contract extention. The only downer of the whole evening was a very nasty wreck on the first lap of the first heat for the Pro Singles. A couple of riders got together and another rider vaulted over them. They took a couple of the riders to the hospital. Hope they have a quick recovery.

I understand that there is a young rider in critical condition. Any up date or confirmation on his condition. Also thoughts and prayers goes out to the Peter Lenz Family in the lost of their son at Indy Sunday and also remember the other young rider involved in this accident and his family. R.I.P. Peter.

I just read a brief update in the Indianapolis Star on one of the riders that was injured on Saturday night at the Indy mile. Jesse Phibbs, 21, of Leamington, Ontario remains hospitalized in Indianapolis with head injuries. It goes on to say that he has been racing for several years, but this is his first season competing at the pro level. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
