After a weekend off the Midwest TQ Racing League™ presented by Vincennes University returns to action on Saturday evening August 21st at the Shelby County Fairgrounds in Shelbyville, Ind.

A full racing program of qualifications, trophy dash, two rounds of heat races and a 25 lap feature are on tap. There have been eleven races contested so far this season and eight drivers have visited victory lane. Defending champion Tate Martz, Jason Willis and rookie CJ Leary have each won twice and individual wins have been scored by Tim Lynch, Nick Speidel, Jason Knoke, Chris Guinn and Ronnie Combs.

Additional prizes up for grabs will be the Jackson Oil & Solvents Duel for Fuel, Tony Stewart Racing Rookie of the Race, Ward’s Apparel Hard Charger, Duane & Sonja Alexander Hard Luck Driver, INOX Slick Move of the Race, and the Green Tech Tail Gunner Challenge. If the polesitter accepts the Tail Gunner Challenge and can win the feature after starting from the rear his victory will be worth an additional $800.

Fans and competitors alike will want to get to Shelbyville early for the FREE Root Beer Float and Race Car Display at the Grover Museum located at 52 West Broadway from noon until 2:00 pm. The Shelby County Historical Society will be serving root beer floats in the 1904 Emporium on the Streets of Old Shelbyville and several MTQRL owners will have their cars on display on the sidewalk in front of the museum.

The Shelby County Historical Society and Chamber of Commerce will also have advance tickets for sale for the nights racing activities. Tickets are $8 for adults (12 and over), $5 for children and 6 and under are free. $3 from each ticket sold before 2:00 pm Saturday will go to the Chamber.

Activities at the fairgrounds will begin at 5:00 pm with practice, followed by qualifications at 6:00 pm and racing is set to begin at 7:00 pm.

Is Shelbyville still under construction? How about In 9, and 44, they still got detours? We're gonna try to make it early, for the Root Beer Floats, that's enough to get a lot of folks there. See ya all Sat, one way or another! Bob

Bob, I'm not sure of the construction. Maybe someone from the Shelbyville area can post an update.

Sandy, from what I can gather, Ind 9 is OK, they do have some construction, but it's South, and has a stop light, I'm still not sure about Ind 44 from I65 across, I think it may have a little detour on it, but it can be done. Sure looking forward to a nice cool RootBeer Float, and a tour of the Museum. Maybe all this talk about rain will wait til Sunday. Bob

[I]Hope there is a large crowd this weekend for the races. IF you are coming in from the west (65 to 44) change your plans !!!!! 44 is closed from Franklin to Shelbyville. If you take State road 9 in,you will be fine from north or south.[All of those that need to come from the west you can take 252 east to State road 9 north or go to Indy and take 465 to 74 east./I]

unless you are pulling a very large trailer, the detour is not bad at all. Anyone with a standered car trailer or smaller will have no problems going thru the detour. Its not a long screwed up one either!
