Earlier in the week someone brought up the fact that with so many different options, the sprint car numbers would be down. In looking at the results from 6 different tracks that ran sprint cars last night, a couple were under 20 but the rest were 24 or over. If my math is correct, and it wasn't my best subject, 144 sprints were at the 6 different tracks last night. In this economy, not too bad in my estimation.

I was also very surprised that in reading all of the posts so far, almost all have been positive with an exception or two. WOW! That seldom happens on here anymore.

I would like to hear about the attendance last night? Weather probably hurt some crowds due to the "iffy" nature of forecast. KC was rained out but not before they were able to get part of the show in. So, how were the crowds last night?

Mike, I was at P-ville last night... I thought the crowd was a little larger than the USAC show the previous Saturday. For that show there was approximately 900 fans in front stretch grandstands (or as I like to refer to it... THE HILL).

Elodra had a pretty good crowd considering the weather, we had rain almost untill we got to the track. I'd say main stand was over 2/3rds full with some crowd along the edge at each end. They only ran FASTRAK late models and the sprints. 24 sprints and 29 LMs.

I agree.
If there was only some way we could get even half of them to the same track at the same time for a major Traditional Sprint weekend it would be great.

At TSS 75% would be 3,750 race fan in the stands. Total capacity is 5,000

There was an earlier thread bemoaning the poor number of pre-entries for the USAC swing in Iowa. IMHO, we now have more traditional sprint cars in the IL, IN and OH area than ever before; but we also have more tracks and the incredible alphabet soup of sanctioning bodies all vying for the same market. Couple this with the difficult economy and what you wind up with is a series of small regional markets which is great for budget strapped teams and fans, but very difficult for large national events which often involves travel and its related expenses. There are certainly positives to this situation, but it also comes with a price in promoting and maintaining large purse, high profile events for traditional sprint cars.
