Brownstown and Montpelier On Tap For UMRA
By Alex Wollf

The 50th anniversary season of the Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA TQ Midgets rolls on with two races this week. Thursday night the setting will be the Brownstown Speedway as the UMRA will contest a race run in conjunction with the Jackson County Fair. It will mark the third appearance of 2010 for the TQs at Brownstown as Oogie Goff got the win on May 15 and Brandon Gray picked up his first career win on July 10. Saturday night the UMRA will make its second appearance of the season at the Montpelier Motor Speedway. On July 3, Jason Goff picked up the win with a pass of Ron Combs on a late-race restart.
There will be a pair of contingency awards that the drivers will be battling for at Brownstown and Montpelier this week. The $50 from the “Tony Stewart Rookie Challenge” will go to the highest finishing rookie each night. The G&G Oil “Hard Charger of the Race” will reward the driver who advances the most positions in the feature event with five gallons of fuel. Kids will want to get their parents to bring them out to the races this week as a lucky young fan will leave the track with a brand new kids bike.
The second half of the season is really starting to heat up and you will want to be a part of the exciting action this week at two great tracks. Gates open at 4 PM on Thursday at Brownstown with practice at 6:30, and racing set to begin at 7. On Saturday at Montpelier the gates open at 4 PM, practice is at 6, and racing is scheduled to start at 7.
